// This year everything will be turned upside down again. I have no idea what my life will look like in a few months and what 2019 has in store for me. Job, place of residence, new people. As I read recently and found accurate: Life consists of a series of exams that show us where we stand and from which we can learn and grow. Seems like I have to be reminded again to accept the unknown and trust that I will find my way. In this sense I – dripping with sentimentality ;-P – wish you all the best for this year!

Why so serious?

// As you can see I tried drawing a portrait. Haven’t drawn anything in a long time (and certainly not on a screen). I hope you can see who it is… ? Still have to practise and there’s certainly improvement potential, but for now I’m satisfied with the result.

Willy Ronis.

// When I was in Venice I also visited the photography museum Tre Oci and its exhibition about Willy Ronis (lasts until 6 January 2019) at the end of my journey. I didn’t know his work until I visited the exhibition and was very impressed by his photos. In my opinion he has an extraordinary visual language. I regret not going there earlier, because his photos were extremely inspiring. I’m planing to „integrate“ more people into my photos, because they are the ones who represent a time. Normally you often wait until everyone is gone and take pictures of landscapes / buildings / etc. without anyone, because people are some kind of „disturbing“, but it’s how pictures come alive (provided you shoot at the right moment).
